About Our School
Propel Northside opened in 2011 and serves scholars in grades K -8. Propel Northside is the eighth Propel School in the greater Pittsburgh area and the first Propel school located
within the City of Pittsburgh. Our differentiated instruction classroom allows scholars to decide where they will sit and what they will learn. Scholars may choose a spot on the couch, at the computer, on the carpet, or at their desk space. Whether they are learning addition on a tablet or through blocks and worksheets backed by research, scholars feel empowered and succeed when they have a say in their learning. In partnership with Penn State Greater Allegheny, initiated Project Team. This program encourages good behavior through teamwork. VERIZON INNOVATION
Through an exciting partnership with Verizon, Propel Northside is one of ten schools in the nation to be home to a 5G Innovative Learning Lab.
The space has virtual reality stations, 3D printers, and other high-tech learning experiences. Our scholars benefit from an immersive collaboration that turns lesson plans into dynamic experiences.
WE ARE A COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Propel Northside is designated as a community school. Propel Northside maintains an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement through partnerships with other community resources. Scholars are physically, socially, and emotionally healthy. Scholars learn in a safe and supportive environment, and this approach leads to improved scholar learning while supporting stronger families and healthier communities. Community schools contain a host of opportunities and support to give scholars and families the tools they need to learn and grow.
